Video Genius

I was amazed at the focus this young man possessed. His eyes were filled with excitement as he booted up his laptop, anxious to play his video to a room filled with 96706 business executives. The video captured the attention of all viewers from beginning to end. It was sharp, professionally done, and flawlessly executed. They say behind every successful man is an equally successful woman. Well, behind every successful video is a driven and determined creator. Jonathan Straley is an over comer, a go-getter with a positive attitude. He’s creating videos that college students are learning to create all at the age of 17. I am excited to introduce to you Jonathan Straley.

mail Hi, I’m Jonathan Straley, and I teach video production and graphics design at the Hale Pono Ewa Beach Boys and Girls Club in the Hale Pono News Network program. I recently filmed two Public Service Announcements (PSAs) at the club, both of which I entered into the First Annual Aloha Care Health and Wellness video competition. One of my PSAs, starring club member, Shan Malubay, received first place in the children’s health category. The PSA was about all the different activities that you can do at the club and how easy it is to stay active. This award was actually my first video award that I received in my entire video career.

I didn’t start learning video production until the second half of last year, so when my name was called as the first place winner, I was extremely excited. I felt as if I just won the lottery for a million dollars! That’s just the pure excitement I felt as I walked up to the stage to receive my award, which was $800 for Campbell High School’s Saber Media program.

Media is one of my passions and I plan on filming many more PSAs here at the club.
